The Lunar Micro was the first box we designed and made. It was inspired by a query received from a client who owned a young woodland. The woodland provided excellent bat foraging but the young trees offered little in the way of roosting potential. He wanted a bat box that would last, and therefore did not want wooden boxes, but was concerned that the large woodcrete boxes currently available would be too large and too obtrusive to mount on his relatively young tree stock. He also wanted dozens of boxes throughout the woodland and the use of larger, more costly boxes, reduced the quantity he could use.

 

We could not find a quality solution to our clients query so we set about designing and building our own. The Lunar Micro was born!

The Lunar Micro is made from our unique thermal concrete blend. Traditional materials have been replaced with Vermiculite, a naturally occurring mineral renowned for its insulation properties. This results in a robust bat box with good thermal insulation values.

 

The Lunar Micro is 260mm tall and 100mm in diameter; making it suited for smaller trees, stealthy positioning high in tree canopies, fixing multiple units on a single tree to provide a variety of roost sites that vary in temperature and for providing multiple small roost locations for habitat improvement and mitigation projects.
